Visit The Beach
If you’re looking for a relaxing day on the beach, head to Playa Blanca or Playa Larga. Or, if you’re looking for something a bit more exhilarating, try surfing or windsurfing at one of the area’s many beaches.
Eat At The Amazing Restaurants
Just inland of Ceiba del Mar is Carrizalillo, which features more than 60 restaurants and cafés to choose from, ranging from traditional Mexican fare to Italian, seafood, vegetarian dishes and more.
Check Out An Adventure Park
If you’re looking for some adventure on land rather than in the sea, head to one of its many adventure parks, such as Xplor Park or Xel-Ha. These parks offer zip lines, underground caves, rappelling and other fun activities.
Explore The Ruins
The area is also home to some ancient Mayan ruins, such as the El Rey Ruins. These ruins date back centuries and are a must-see for history buffs.
Take A Boat Ride
One of the best ways to see the beauty around Ceiba del Mar is to take a boat ride. With its beautiful, surrounding waters, it’s the perfect place to take a sunset cruise or do some deep-sea fishing.
Visit The Main Attractions
The area around Ceiba del Mar is rich with history and culture. Visit the Maya ruins near the town center, or check out a show at Teatro Ceiba.
The Rancho San Cayetano is home to an impressive history museum, filled with artifacts from the Mayan days. Or you can head to El Templo del Sol for a look inside the only observatory open to the public in Latin America.
And don’t forget about turtle season! Between June and November, you can go on tours to watch the turtles lay their eggs on the beaches.
Tulum is an ancient Mayan city that was built on cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea. It’s less than an hour’s drive away from Ceiba del Mar, and includes stunning beaches, Mayan ruins, cenotes (natural pools), jungle activities like zip-lining or cave tours, restaurants and more.
Visit Sites Of Natural Beauty
While you’re in the area, don’t forget to see some of the stunning natural beauty nearby. Check out the waterfalls at Misico or drive up to the top of Chichen Itza to see the Mayan ruins from above.
Visit A Typical Mexican Community
About an hour away from Ceiba del Mar is the town of Chichihualco, where you can visit a traditional farming and fishing community. Here, you’ll see how the people live and experience their daily lives. You can also pick up deals on locally grown goods and other handmade crafts.
See The Museums
There’s also plenty of history and culture to be found near Ceiba del Mar. The town is home to a cathedral dating back to the 16th century, and there are also several museums worth visiting, including the Maritime Museum and the Regional History Museum.
